YouTube Shorts Safe Zone Dimensions for 2026

YouTube Shorts has its own unique UI layout that differs from both TikTok and Instagram Reels. The Shorts player overlays a YouTube logo, search icon, video title, subscribe button, and engagement icons (like, dislike, comment, share) on top of your 9:16 vertical video. Knowing where these elements sit helps you design thumbnails and position text that won't get hidden.

The top 150 pixels are covered by the YouTube logo and search/cast icons. The bottom 420 pixels (from 1500px) display the video title, channel name, subscribe button, and description. The right side from 940px (140px wide) holds the engagement icons. YouTube Shorts has the smallest top zone but the largest bottom zone of all three platforms.
